Anthony Lazaro, MD
Anthony was born and raised in New Jersey. He received his bachelor’s degree in Chemistry before moving to Nashville with his wife, Julia. While living in Tennessee, Anthony developed a love of hiking and the outdoors during his trips exploring the trails and waterfalls of the South. As he was driving around the towns he noticed that there were limited local clinics and hospitals nearby. After witnessing the effects of the rural physician shortage firsthand, along with his medical school experiences, which focused on the healthcare of underserved and minority communities, he plans to commit himself to rural areas.
Anthony pursued Family Medicine because he wanted to be the primary health provider for multiple generations of a family, to treat problems that range from simple to complex, and to perform various procedures. He chose the Fox Valley residency due to its unopposed, full-spectrum program that would fully prepare him to practice in any environment, especially rural, and most importantly he felt the residents, faculty, and staff were genuinely friendly and supportive. In his spare time, he enjoys playing video games, hiking, backpacking, and traveling with his wife.
