Hannah Tumilty, MD
Hannah grew up in McFarland, WI, a suburb of Madison. Hannah’s parents are both pharmacists, so she grew up among the aisles of the independent community pharmacy they owned. It was there that she developed her love for medicine. Hannah went to UW-LaCrosse for undergrad and majored in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Psychology. After obtaining her Bachelor’s degree, Hannah spent two years in LaCrosse working with a young boy with cerebral palsy. She also worked at an assisted living facility in the memory care unit, which fostered her love for geriatrics.
Throughout undergrad and medical school, Hannah had the opportunity to volunteer in many diverse settings. During undergrad, she volunteered in the pharmacy of a free health clinic, as well as volunteering with children from unstable homes and as a physical activity mentor for a young man with autism. Throughout medical school, Hannah volunteered at a health clinic for the uninsured in both the general clinic and the psychiatry clinic. She also spent time as a group leader for a pipeline program of middle school and high school students from underrepresented communities in medicine. Hannah has a strong interest for quality improvement and patient safety as well as medical student and resident mental health.
In her free time, Hannah enjoys spending time with her friends and family. She is a huge animal lover and is the proud mom of two cats and hopes to adopt a dog in the near future. Hannah is a big sports fan and has been spoiled being so close to collegiate and professional Wisconsin sports teams throughout her life. She enjoys spending time outdoors, but she also loves a good game/puzzle night. Hannah has recently developed a love for refinishing old furniture.
Hannah was drawn to the Fox Valley Family Medicine Residency because of the full-spectrum training. During her interview day, it was clear to Hannah that the faculty was extremely supportive of the residents, both professionally and personally. Hannah looks forward to learning about Appleton and its community members.
