Kayla Milano, MD

Kayla Milano, MD

Kayla Milano grew up in a small town east of Sacramento, CA. After graduating high school, she moved to New York City to attend Fordham University. Growing up in a smaller community, she wanted to experience culture in a city. At Fordham, Kayla was a member of the Women’s rowing team and studied Psychology. During her senior year, she decided to pursue a career in medicine rather than clinical psychology, and began a post baccalaureate pre medical program at NYU. The 2 years of science courses were a big shift from her liberal arts education. Upon completing her science courses at NYU, she began her medical training at Ross University. The first 2 years of this program were located in Dominica, a small Caribbean island in the West Indies. During this time, she met her husband, another Ross Student and Chicago native. Upon completing the basic medical sciences in Dominica, she returned to the States for her clinical training. Her third year clerkships were located at a hospital in Downtown L.A. During this year, when not on rotations, she experienced the various beach cities in Southern California. Kayla completed the majority of her 4th year electives in Chicago, where her eyes were opened to yet another city with its own distinct flavor.

Kayla’s hobbies are dancing, walking outdoors, hiking, making new recipes for friends, and reading.

Kayla was attracted to the Fox Valley Family Residency Program because of the warm attitude of the faculty, as well as the diversity of practice settings that its graduates pursue. She was also struck by the cohesiveness of the Appleton community. From meeting current residents and clinic staff to local coffee shop workers and renter’s on craigslist, everyone in Appleton has been welcoming and forthcoming about how to spend time in Appleton.
