Matthew Wheeler, MD
Matt Wheeler was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and as such he had no natural affiliation to any NFL team. He wandered aimlessly from team to team until moving to Superior, Wisconsin and settling on the Packers just in time for their Championship season. The attraction to the other side of the state must have begun then, even if he didn’t know it. At that time, Matt was a music teacher, having earned Bachelors and Master’s degrees in music (piano, composition and conducting) from Coe College and University of Minnesota Duluth; there was really only a slight change of course from music to medicine. Matt tries to apply the strategies of a teacher and the mindset of an artist to his practice of medicine. He gets excited about multigenerational, relational and diverse care, and promotes prevention and whole self-wellness. A proud member of the first graduating class from the Medical College of Wisconsin - Green Bay, he couldn’t be more excited to stay in the Fox Valley. He was an American Academy of Family Physicians Emerging Leader Institute scholar in 2016, working to lay the groundwork for a student run free clinic in the Green Bay area.
He’s still involved in music, performing annually at Doctors in Recital. Since moving north in 2010, he has been an avid participant in Wisconsin’s greatest sport of Curling. He also enjoys grilling, collecting Christmas music, playing disc golf and board games, making his own espresso, toodling around on his Vespa, making (and eating) waffles, and laughing at Calvin and Hobbes or Peanuts comic strips. But most of all he loves spending time with his lovely wife Danielle and going on various and sundry adventures together with their two border collie huskies, brothers Corin and Shasta.
