Assistant Professor - Behavioral Science

Position Description:              

The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) Fox Valley Family Medicine Residency seeks a Director of Behavioral Science to join a well-established 7-7-7 Residency Program, in Appleton, WI.  This Behavioral Science Director will have the opportunity to grow and refine, a well-supported Behavioral Science Program.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Behavioral Science Director is responsible for the administrative and educational activities pertaining to the Behavioral and Mental Health education and general training needs of the Family Medicine Residency Program, including those assigned activities related to the recruitment, selection, instruction, supervision, evaluation and advancement of residents. This individual works under the general direction of the Residency Program Director, and collaborates with physician faculty, Care Manager, Patient Educator, Nursing staff, and other team members to achieve patient care and academic goals.  The Behavioral Science Director also works collaboratively with the Medical Director and Director of Operations of Mosaic Family Health, the Residency’s clinical home, to ensure a sound behavioral health program for the Clinic’s patients.  This will include collaborative development of an integrated behavioral health program with additional behavioral practitioners.

Position Requirements:                 

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: The Behavioral Scientist must maintain a level of clinical skills by rendering competent and thorough clinical care, maintaining licensure or certification as appropriate to the Behavioral Scientist’s training (e.g., Psychology, Social Work, MFT, etc.). The maintenance of clinical skills provides a solid base for clinical teaching and feedback to residents in the residency program and provides a clinical role model for health care professionals in the residency program and an opportunity to model collaborative care for residents, students and staff.  In general, the Behavioral Scientist will be expected to schedule a minimum of twelve (12) hours per week for direct patient care activities, including assessment, evaluation and therapy services.  Billings shall be submitted in accordance with Medical College of Wisconsin policy, through Mosaic Family Health, the home to the Fox Valley Family Medicine Residency in Appleton, WI. 

EDUCATIONAL AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:  Candidates must have graduated from at least a Doctoral level university program in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Marriage/Family Therapy, or other Mental Health field, and have an active, unrestricted professional license to practice in Wisconsin or be immediately eligible for licensure. Experience in Health Care, especially Medical Education, preferred.

 

 

Assistant Professor - Clinician Educator Pathway

DEPARTMENT OF FAMILY AND COMMUNITY MEDICINE  

Position Summary: The Assistant Professor and clinical faculty member in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Medicine will provide service to both inpatient and outpatient services and participate in inpatient call.  This is a teaching position and will involve teaching and advising residents and medical students.         

  Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide full-scope of family medicine care to both inpatients and outpatients
  • Precept residents on both the inpatient and outpatient
  • Additional teaching responsibilities with residents and medical students
  • Possible research and scholarly opportunities
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Chair 

Position Requirements:                 

Required Qualifications

  • Board Certified/Board Eligible Graduation from an accredited residency Program.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Task/Project Management - Able to independently manage assigned projects and tasks to accurately complete them within budget and by the due date with high customer satisfaction.  Able to work independently and ask for technical assistance only when needed.  Able to identify, estimate, and complete tasks required for the project.

  • Technical Skills – Demonstrates a strong background in medical procedural skills.

  • Problem Solving Skills - Able to recognize issues and determine priority.  Able to quickly isolate and independently resolve issues utilizing all available resources.  Able to proactively prevent issues from occurring again and to anticipate future issues.  Able to stay focused on the root cause to solve problems.

  • Communication Skills - Able to effectively communicate in both written and verbal form to patients, colleagues and staff.  Able to create comprehensive documentation for curriculum.

  • Interpersonal/Customer Service Skills - Must be pleasant, courteous, and professional to customers and employees.  Able to handle stressful situations in a calm and patient manner.  Must maintain a positive attitude in all situations.
